Description

Genotropin 36 IU (12 mg) is a prescription-only synthetic human growth hormone containing somatropin, primarily used to treat growth hormone deficiency (GHD), short stature caused by genetic disorders, and long-term developmental growth failures. This recombinant human growth hormone mirrors the hormone naturally produced by the pituitary gland to regulate bone development, muscle growth, and metabolic functions.

Primary Medical Uses
  • Pediatric Care: Prescribed for children experiencing growth disturbances due to GHD, Turner syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, chronic renal insufficiency, or those born small for gestational age (SGA) who fail to experience catch-up growth by age 2 to 4.
  • Adult Care: Used to treat pronounced adult growth hormone deficiency to significantly optimize body composition by increasing lean muscle mass, reducing body fat, and improving physical stamina.
Common Side Effects
While many individuals adjust smoothly to therapy, common physiological reactions can emerge:
  • Localized injection site issues (redness, pain, or mild swelling)
  • Headaches, temporary numbness, or tingling sensations (paresthesia)
  • Fluid retention leading to peripheral swelling (edema) or joint and muscle pain
  • Elevated blood glucose levels or reduced thyroid hormone production
